Right when TikTokers were getting over the clip of two sisters performing the viral TikTok dance, “Rick & Morty” in front of their mom’s casket to bring her back to life, another funeral video has struck again.
The clip shared by TikTok user @jazzklassykushco is making the rounds on social media, with many netizens applauding the poster for weeding out the thorns among rose bushes.
The footage featured a woman calling out the attendees at her younger sister’s funeral for being fake. It displayed the screen caption: “When the fake people show up to my sister’s funeral.”
The clip began with the camera panning through the hall, giving a glimpse of the hearse, funeral flowers, and a photo of the deceased.
The camera finally focused on Jasmine, standing in front of a podium, clad in a black off-shoulder dress and sunglasses. She looked to be addressing the crowd, only that her words were not exactly the typical eulogies one would expect at a funeral.
She began by labeling the attendees as fake people before going on to list out their numerous atrocities, saying:
“She didn’t even like you. You owe her money. And I didn’t even see you donate to my sister’s funeral, so you’re automatically disqualified. You can leave the room. Yeah. Bye. Bye.”
At the end of the video, Jasmine told the audience not to act surprised, implying that they should have seen it coming. Her caption read:
“I hope I gave you the best funeral baby sis. Fly high. #restinpeace #forever18 #AEJeansHaveFun.”
The clip did not ascertain whether the woman was speaking to real funeral attendees or an empty hall, as the camera only focused on her without showing anyone else.
Nonetheless, it received quite the reaction from an impressive number of viewers, who commented on the post. Responding to the caption, one person wrote:
“No. Bc if my sister doesn’t do this for me… there are gonna be a whole bunch of people saying they were my friend & they weren’t.”
Most gave the creator the thumbs up for coming through for her baby sister even in death, which was what the deceased would have wanted. A comment read: “I’m glad you spoke up for your sister. May she rest in peace. Sorry for your loss.”
Some TikTokers criticized Jasmine’s approach, saying she should have done that before the funeral or after rather than act up publicly. One wrote:
“I hope no one acts like this at my funeral. The people that have done me wrong will have to answer for it one day. Don’t fight on my day.”
Most people defended the attendees, noting that their showing up at the funeral showed they cared. They also slammed the grieving woman for being unsympathetic.
Thankfully, many sprang to Jasmine’s defense, saying her actions could have been triggered by her grief. A comment read:
“Y’all remember she’s hurting too and maybe this is exactly what her sister wanted. & this might be a way of coping with her grief too. So quit [judging!].”
While some agreed to this assertion, others tried pointing out that there were better ways of coping with one’s grief after losing a loved one.
Some of the common methods include being patient, adopting some positive changes in one’s daily life, embracing new routines, and avoiding the will to act up emotionally.
Letting out the pent-up emotions by talking to someone or keeping a journal has also proven helpful in dealing with such devastating experiences.
