Shocking: Prison Librarian Assaulted by Inmates After Forming Relationship – Court Testimony Reveals

Title: Shocking: Prison Librarian Sexually Assaults Inmates in Library

Subheadings:

Prison Librarian’s Inappropriate Behavior

A PRISON librarian sexually assaulted two male inmates in its library after striking up a relationship with a third, a court heard yesterday. “Flirtatious” Sharon Mawdsley, 46, was said to have been “very open and explicit about her own sexual activities.” One alleged victim said she boasted of attending swingers’ parties and having lesbian sex in front of her husband.

Abuse of Power

Prosecutor David Bentley said: “She used her position to sexually abuse the two complainants within the library environment for her own sexual gratification.” Mawdsley worked ten hours a week as a library assistant at Kirkham Open Prison, Lancs, from May 2017. Inmates claimed that she was having sex there with one prisoner.

Minimal Security in Open Prisons

Mr Bentley said: “Kirkham prison is an open prison and therefore has minimal security with eligible prisoners allowed time away from their cells for work, education, and re settlement courses.” Mawdsley, of Blackpool, was later dismissed. She denies six counts of sexual assault by touching and has pleaded guilty to misconduct in a public office at an earlier hearing. Preston crown court trial continues.
