Two JetBlue jets collide at Boston’s Logan Airport: Passengers left trapped

Passengers were left trapped after two JetBlue jets collided at Boston’s Logan Airport, leaving one of the planes with damage to its wing.

Collision at Boston’s Logan Airport

The aircraft was headed to Las Vegas, ahead of the Super Bowl this Sunday while the second one was on its way to Orlando.

A JetBlue plane was entering the de-icing pad lane Thursday morning when it came into contact with another JetBlue plane at an adjacent pad, the airline said in a statement. The crash caused damage to one of the plane’s winglets and the other’s tail section.

Passengers trapped after the collision

Passenger Dave Sauter told Boston 25 News he was headed to Las Vegas to work on a Super Bowl when the crash happened shortly after they pulled away from the gate.

FAA’s statement on the collision

The Federal Aviation Administration said: “JetBlue Flight 777, an Airbus A321neo’s left winglet struck the right horizontal stabilizer of JetBlue Flight 551, an Airbus A321, around 6:40 a.m., local time on Thursday, February 8, while on the deicing pad at Boston Logan International Airport. The FAA will investigate.”
