These slimy sea creatures can be made more crunchy by marinating in alcohol or sprinkling salt and vinegar on them.

Researcher Dr Mathias Clausen even said: “It’s not an unfamiliar taste — it’s a bit like pork scratchings.”

Southern Denmark University is currently testing different flavour options with his team.

Meanwhile a Food of the Future report by Sainsbury’s confirmed: “Recent research has found jellyfish to be full of nutrients and vitamins.
