Sacha Baron Cohen Responds After Parts of Rebel Wilson’s Book Banned in the UK
Sacha Baron Cohen has spoken out after parts of Rebel Wilson’s book were banned in the UK. The Australian actress had made claims about Sacha’s conduct while they filmed the Grimsby movie together in 2016.

Her highly anticipated memoir Rebel Rising finally went on sale in the UK today. However, publishers made the decision to omit parts of the chapter which Rebel, 44, had titled it Sacha Baron Cohen And Other A**holes.
The omission relates directly to Rebel’s claims about Sacha’s conduct on set. In the book, she said she “felt like Sacha Baron Cohen had sexually harassed me” during filming in South Africa.
Sacha Baron Cohen’s Legal Response
Following the move, Sacha’s legal team released a statement slamming the Pitch Perfect star. They mentioned that Harper Collins did not fact-check the chapter before publication and had to delete Rebel Wilson’s defamatory claims once presented with evidence that they were false.
They emphasized that printing falsehoods is against the law in the UK and Australia, and this is a legal principle that has existed for many years.
Harper Collins Statement and Fan Reactions
Fans who purchased the book in the UK found a full page of blacked-out words. Harper Collins explained that they are redacting parts of one page for legal reasons, along with some small redactions and an explanatory note.
Rebel had played Sacha’s on-screen girlfriend in the film Grimsby. Shortly after her claims, Sacha and his wife Isla Fisher announced their separation after 14 years of marriage.
Rebel’s Memoir and Its Impact on Sacha and Isla’s Split
Central Recorder previously reported that Rebel’s memoir was a catalyst for Sacha and Isla’s split announcement. Isla had consulted lawyers over a separation last year after 13 years of marriage and three children together.
It is believed that Rebel’s claims in her memoir played a role in the breakdown of Sacha and Isla’s relationship.
