Royal Mail workers call off planned strikes amid legal challenge

PLANNED strikes of postal workers over the next two week have been canceled following a legal challenge.

Royal Mail lawyers have written to the ­Communication Workers Union highlighting their concerns over the formal notification of rolling industrial action.

This comes as a result of a string of strikes over the past few weeks with more walkouts in the future.

The union said that ­following the letter, it had decided to withdraw action on six dates in the coming fortnight.

Andy Furey, acting general secretary of CWU, said: “We believe it is a necessary move to protect our dispute.”

It stated that strikes would resume on November 12.
