Roy Keane and Micah Richards were both in agreement over the reaction to Manchester United ’s 2-1 defeat to Young Boys.

After their Champions League campaign began in a losing manner, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side was subject to criticism.

The game’s dynamic was changed by Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s red card after Cristiano Ronaldo had led with a score of 0-1.

Keane and Richards were discussing the defeat on Sky Sports, prior to United’s Super Sunday game against West Ham.

Both men agreed that things can get out of control when analyzing their results.

Keane said: “Southampton away from home, they weren’t great, probably could’ve got beat. The Wolves one, they got the win but weren’t that great, so I wasn’t that shocked. We all made mistakes.

“You mentioned the point everything’s exaggerated. They beat Newcastle everything’s great, lose during the week it’s a disaster. It’s still early in the season takes time to bed in, they’ll be disappointed but plenty of time to bounce back.”

Richards agreed United can be unfairly judged but did question some of the tactics of Solskjaer during the game.

“I think it was [blown out of proportion] when you go down to 10 men, it’s difficult and don’t forget you’re playing on a plastic pitch as well for your knees and ankles, they’re used to it. But that’s not making excuses, the Wan-Bissaka challenge changed the whole game.

Are Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United the right men to lead them forward? We’d love to hear from you in the comments section.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær was criticised after Manchester United’s defeat to Young Boys

“The one thing I couldn’t understand was towards the end of the game, he took off Fred and brought on Martial at the time it was 1-1 they ended up losing the game 2-1, if you look at the tactical element of it, I couldn’t quite understand it.

“In terms of people saying Ole isn’t good enough, I just believe on that occasion it was difficult because of the red card.”
