Rodolphe Belmer, former CEO of Canal+, to Head up TF1

Rodolphe Belmer, a former CEO of Canal+, is now in charge of TF1.

Current CEO and Chairman will propose Belmer at a upcoming board meeting Gilles Pélisson, who will step down early next year before As Senior Vice President, Media and Development at Bouygues Group, TF1 owner.

Belmer joined Atos, but was previously with Canal+ for 14 year. He served as Group CEO and CEO the majority of that time.

“I am delighted that Rodolphe Belmer, whom I have known for many years, has accepted my offer to join TF1 group, and wish him every success in his role,” Pélisson. “His track record at the head of several leading French multinationals, and his experience in media and streaming, mean he is ideally prepared to meet the challenges we face and to steer the long-term development of the TF1 group.”

Belmer was added: “I’m convinced that together we will be able to meet the multiple challenges of the new media landscape, and open up new development and growth prospects for TF1 group in the digital era.”

After the merger of TF1 and Bertelsmann’s M6, French broadcasting has been in a major week. This was due to competition concerns.

M6 is currently up for sale, and Bertelssman CEO Thomas Rabe welcomed offers.
