Discover the Makeup Artist’s Expert Tips to Reverse Ageing with Makeup
You might be adding decades onto your face with dodgy application, a makeup artist has revealed. But have no fear: makeup artist Wayne Goss has shared how you can age every part of your face backwards with the right techniques.
The expert, who has over 15 years of experience in the industry, spoke exclusively to Fabulous about shaving years off your features. “Majority of us will be using makeup to help improve how we look, or even help cover up some of the wrinkles we’ve gained over the years,” he said. “However, due to some mistakes, the makeup that we’re wearing could actually be doing the opposite effect. And it could potentially be adding not just one or two, but up to ten years to our face.”
FIRST THINGS FIRST
It’s worth noting that skincare should be your first priority when it comes to anti-ageing efforts. Wayne recommends always reaching for hydrating ingredients, such as skincare and makeup products infused with hyaluronic acid. And you should always apply a heavy moisturiser before you apply any makeup to your face, he adds.
As far as your eyes are concerned, you can watch the tutorial at the top of this page for the best way to skincare your eyes backwards – and stop makeup from settling in fine lines around them. Wayne loves the Drunk Elephant Ceramighty Eye Balm for under-eyes – but if this is out of your budget at £53, he said using your standard moisturiser as eye cream will enhance your makeup application too. EYES
The delicate skin around the eyes is prone to wrinkles and fine lines as collagen and elastin production decreases with age. These lines typically manifest as crow’s feet and in our under-eye bags. According to Wayne, the area in which you apply concealer makes all the difference in helping your makeup age you backwards. “Concealer should be applied to the inner corner of the eyes only,” he said. “This area does not crease… Ever!”
