BURGER KING Modern Design 2028 Goal

Owner Restaurant Brands International expects 85% to 90% of Burger King locations to have the same modern design by 2028.

Currently, only 100 restaurants have the new look.

BURGER KING Locations Remodeled

That leaves a significant number of its 7,000 locations nationwide to go.

However, the locations that have been remodeled have already seen an uplift in sales, Burger King US president Tom Curtis told CNBC

BURGER KING New “Sizzle” Design

Restaurants are being revamped under what Burger King calls its “Sizzle” design.

This includes drive-thru windows for mobile pickup and self-order kiosks.

Many locations will have to shutter temporarily to allow for the renovations.

But Burger King hopes the new look will entice customers and prevent any further permanent restaurant closures.

BURGER KING Restaurant Closures

Burger King closed around 300 restaurants in 2023, according to Restaurant Business Magazine.

Some of these closures came about due to the bankruptcy of major franchisees.

These included Meridian Restaurants Unlimited, which operated around 120 Burger King restaurants, mostly in and around Utah.

Meanwhile, TOMS King Holdings, which owned 90 locations, also filed for bankruptcy last year.

The majority of restaurants in both cases, however, were sold to new owners.

BURGER KING Pricing Strategy

Burger King is one of several chains that has raised prices in response to a new minimum wage law in California.

Major fast food chains must now pay workers $20 an hour in the Golden state.

Burger King has increased prices by up to 12% for some items, according to the New York Post.
