Red dies in The Sea Beast. The ending of the movie explained

Toothless is an animated movie that has a special knack for making fans fall in love and fall in love with its adorable animal characters. How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek’s Puss in Boots & Abu AladdinJust to name a few.

Netflix’s newest film, The Sea Beast, manages to do the exact same thing with its titular beast, the Red Bluster, known more lovingly as Red.

Despite a fearsome introduction, Red is shown to be a caring creature and it’s hard not to become attached to the enormous animal.

This has naturally led to fans wondering what happens to Red, the beloved creature. Does she die in The Sea Beast’s end or will she live on?

The Sea Beast, a world dedicated to monster hunting

Netflix released the movie on July 8, 2018.^ThThe Sea Beast, 2022. This story is set in an era where terrifying sea creatures roamed oceans, and monster hunters pursued them, who were treated like heroes for their killing.

The film tells Jacob Holland’s story, a monster hunter. He starts his journey on board a hunting vessel. The inevitable, serving under the grizzly Captain Crow – who lost an eye to a beast called the Red Bluster years earlier.

During their hunt for the infamous beast, Jacob and Maisie – an orphaned stowaway – cut a tangled rope to save the crew but in doing so, allow the beast to escape.

Captain Crow holds them both at gunpoint, until Red emerges from the depths and swallows Jacob and Maisie whole.

The beast wasn’t actually trying to kill them. It was actually rescuing them and bringing them safe on an island that is home to other creatures.

Maisie convinces Red to take her with Jacob to an island so they can make it home. While on the way, they meet the creature and realize that they are not evil, but acting in self-defence to the hunters.

Red in The Sea Beast: Does it die?

Red doesn’t actually die in The Sea Beast. However, she faces a lot of danger throughout the film.

Captain Crow is enraged after Red swallows Jacob, Maisie, and Maisie. He seeks out a merchant to provide him with a poison powerful enough to kill Red.

In the film’s climactic battle, Crow uses the poison against the creature, shooting Red with a poison-tipped harpoon that leaves the beast on the verge of death.

Crow brings Red to the Kingdom of Three Bridges with him as a trophy. He plans to publicly execute Red in front of the King & Queen.

Red is eventually killed by Jacob and Maisie, but they intervene to free the creature from captivity.

Red, in retaliation to almost killing Maisie, turns on Captain Crow. However Jacob and Maisie convince Crow to save themselves.

It does this to show the people of Three Bridges the sea beasts are peaceful and only act in self-defence towards the humans who have been hunting them for centuries.

Thus, The Sea Beast concludes with Red and other creatures being allowed and permitted to live peacefully while Jacob, Maisie, and Blue, her pet sea creature, become a happy and content family.

Sea Beast fans demand a sequel with more Red

Ahead of its release, The Sea Beast was shaping up as one to watch and now that Red has stolen fans’ hearts, viewers have wasted no time in calling for a sequel on social media.

One Twitter fan wrote: “So the Sea Beast was REALLY GOOD. And I want a sequel.”

Another added: “Just watched The Sea Beast on Netflix and I need a sequel now. There’s so much more to explore in this world.”

The fan already has an idea: “The sea beast could have a sequel too where Masie is grown up and finds out that there are countries further out where ppl live together with beasts.”

“Just watched the sea beast,”This fan commented. “I can see why so many loved it!! Red was absolutely my favourite part of it.”

Another Twitter fan was filled with praises: “The Sea Beast is one of the best animated movies I’ve seen in the past 5 years. It’s a Treasure Planet-style adventure mixed with How to Train Your Dragon vibes, animation, voice acting, cinematography and scale. 9.5/10 just cause I wanted more of Red.”

“It was cute, I love Maisie and the first mate and crew, but the beast itself I wish had more development,”This fan said it. “She felt more like a set-piece. I’m dying to know more about red but we got not enough of him.”

Finally, the fan pleaded with Red to make it through the film without any injuries. “Watching the sea beast movie with my brothers and I will throw something if it ends badly I am emotionally attached to this little red sea monster.”
