Princess Beatrice opens up on ‘hard’ aspect of royal life before having baby

Princess Beatrice found life in the royal family “hard to navigate” as there was “no precedent” for her role, new accounts show.

The 33-year-old princess welcomed her first child with husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi together earlier this month.

Beatrice has received lashings of love and support from fans, but the daughter of Prince Andrew has spoken about her struggles balancing private and public life in the past before, The Express reports.

“It’s hard to navigate situations like these because there is no precedent, there is no protocol,” Beatrice said.

The 33-year-old also spoke about how it had affected her sister, Princess Eugene.

“We are the first: we are young women trying to build careers and have personal lives, and we’re also princesses and doing all of this in the public eye.”

Eugene has also joined her sister in finding coping strategies with the intensity of the media to be particularly challenging.

Ahead of her wedding to Jack Brooksbank two years ago, the princess spoke to Vogue about how she copes.

“We’ve had some serious grounding from our parents,” Eugene said.

“They’ve had their fair share of terrible media interest and it makes us stronger.

“We believe very strongly in who we are, and the support system of our friends and our family is pretty incredible. There’s no point being angry with anyone for beating us up – we just need to shine light and love in the world.”

Princess Beatrice’s grandmother, the Queen, now has 12 great-grandchildren after the birth of Beatrice’s baby earlier this month.

The little girl is 11th-in-line to the thrown.
