President Biden Tests Positive for COVID-19 Again

President Biden tweeted Saturday afternoon that he was positive for COVID-19, following an antigen test.

After overcoming his virus bout last week, he is now looking forward to this.

He wrote part of the following: “Folks, today I tested positive for COVID again. This happens with a small minority of folks. I’ve got no symptoms but I am going to isolate for the safety of everyone around me. I’m still at work, and will be back on the road soon.”

In a letter, White House physician Dr. Kevin O’ Connor said the 79-year-old is experiencing a rebound case and “has experienced no reemergence of symptoms, and continues to feel quite well,”And that “there is no reason to reinitiate treatment at this time.”

Biden will again isolate for at least five more days according to CDC guidelines. He will continue doing so at the White House until he tests positive.

The agency says most rebound cases are mild and that severe disease during that period has not been reported.

After initially being given a positive COVID result on July 21, President Biden received the antiviral drug Paxlovid. Before he was allowed to go into isolation, he tested negative the next Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Politico reports that the president didn’t wear a mask at any of the events he attended over the course of the week. This is contrary to CDC guidelines that say people should wear a mask for ten days following a COVID-19-related infection.
