Poor Little Girl Crying for Help in Broken Elevator Neighbors Refuse to Save until One Man Interfered! True Story

A girl was stuck in the elevator and kept calling for help. While several apartment dwellers heard her call, none offered any assistance.

“Hello, can anyone hear me? I’m stuck here,” little Evelyn cried. After buying her mother medicines, Evelyn was returning from the pharmacy when she became stuck in an elevator.

“Please help me. I’m stuck in the elevator. Can you hear me?” Evelyn screamed again as she heard the sound of someone’s footsteps.

It was a middle-aged woman who had heard her cries. The elevator was too far away and she stopped. “I’m running late for a date. If I try to open the door, my nails will get ruined,” she said and hurried away.

“But please… I beg you… Hello, are you there?” But, the woman was already gone.

Several hours passed, but nobody came to Evelyn’s call for help. She sat in the corner of the elevator, crying inconsolably until she heard someone’s footsteps again. She wiped her tears and called for help. “Please help me! I can’t get out of the elevator!”

“Who’s in there? Is that a delivery guy?” Adam asked. He lived one floor above Evelyn’s. He wasn’t obese but a bit on the chubby side and obsessed with food.

“No, my name is Evelyn, and I’ve been here for hours!”Evelyn explained.

“Damn, now the delivery guy will have to climb the stairs, and I will have to eat cold pizza. He’s already 30 minutes late!” Adam was upset.

“Well, if you help me, he’ll come sooner as he won’t have to take the stairs,” Evelyn said.

Adam looked down at the elevator with disdain. “My favorite show is going to start in 5 minutes. I don’t want to miss it.”

“No, wait! Please open the elevator door at least and take the package from me…” Evelyn requested.

Adam’s eyes lit up. “What have you got in there? Burgers?”

“Umm…No, there’s medicine for my mother,” Evelyn hesitated.

“Ugh…” Adam was furious. “Sorry but no food, no help! Goodbye!”

Evelyn burst into tears again. She struggled to call 911 as the air in her elevator was getting thinner by each minute. A woman heard Evenly’s cries a few minutes later.

“Who’s been howling like a dog the whole day? I have a headache, and I need silence,” The woman ran out of her apartment screaming.

Evelyn, sadly, no longer had the strength to scream, so she began scratching on the elevator door to indicate that someone was trapped inside. The noise made her furious and she called the emergency number. “I think someone is crying and scratching in our elevator. It’s annoying me, so come quickly!”

“Can you please try opening the elevator door? We will send someone, but it might take some time,” The man answering the call returned his message.

“Ughh…That creature is scratching like my cat, and it’s really getting on my nerves now! Just come as soon as possible! I don’t want to try anything!” The woman shouted.

“Okay then, what floor are you at?… Hello, ma’am… I can’t hear you…”

“Oh, God. This conversation is just adding to my headache!” the woman yelled on the phone and walked away.

Evelyn was almost dead at this point. However, a paramedic arrived shortly afterward. He and his assistant had arrived after receiving a call from a neighbor who said Evelyn’s mother wasn’t feeling well.

“Hello, is anyone there? Do you need help?” he called out when he noticed the elevator wasn’t functional. Evelyn tried to answer but there was not enough air inside. At that point, Evelyn passed out.

Meanwhile, the paramedic examined Evelyn’s mother and informed her that she needed urgent medical care. “I’m afraid your condition is serious! We need to get you admitted to the hospital right away.”

“But I cannot leave without my 10-year-old daughter. She went to the pharmacy to buy an antipyretic for me but hasn’t come back yet. I’m worried about her!” Evelyn’s mother responded.

“Don’t worry. Kids do that all the time. She must have met some friends and started playing,” He answered. “You can send one of your neighbors to look after her.”

Evelyn’s mother did as the paramedic had suggested, and then he and his assistant brought her down the stairs, where they ran into the annoyed woman. “Oh, I’m so glad doctors are here today! I have a headache, and I can’t get rid of it!” The woman exclaimed.

“We’re sorry, but we have to admit your neighbor to the hospital right now,” He said. “We’ll send someone else to help you.”

“Oh God! I’ve suffered all day because of the thing stuck in the elevator, and you’re telling me you’ll send someone later?!” The woman was furious.

“What? Is someone stuck inside?” he was shocked.

“Yes, someone has been howling since morning! I’m tired!”

The paramedic ran to the elevator. He pulled on the elevator door until it opened. Little Evelyn was still unconscious. He carried Evelyn out, and after a few splashes of water on her face, Evelyn finally opened her eyes.

Later that day, the elevator had been repaired. However, the next day, while Evelyn and her mother were in the hospital, they learned that it had broken down again, and the tenants who had previously refused to rescue Evelyn had been stuck there all night.

What can we take away from this story?

  • One call for help can turn thousands of people off, but indifference always returns back to the source. This is evident in the way Evelyn was stuck by her tenants, who refused to help her.
  • God’s delay is not denial. Evelyn was stuck in the elevator for a few hours, but later God sent a paramedic to assist her.
