Picard’ Pauses Production After Dozens Test Positive For Covid, Lead Patrick Stewart Is Not Among Them

Paramount+ series production was stopped Star Trek: Picard Deadline was informed by sources that over four dozen crew and cast members were positive for Covid. We hear that Patrick Stewart, the lead actor, is not among them.

Filming was halted Monday for the show which has more than 450 employees. However, filming is expected to resume tomorrow. Both crew members as well as those cast in Zone A were affected.

Production had been underway on Season 2 of the series which follows Stewart’s titular character into the next chapter of his life.

This is the latest episode to be temporarily halted by Covid cases. This happens just days after production was temporarily suspended. NCIS, and pushed forward to February NCIS: LA.NBC has also delayed filming Chicago FireCovid. The virus outbreak caused cancellations or postponements of the 2022 Grammy Awards (and the Critics Choice Awards) among others. The Central Recorderdance Film Festival cancelled its Park City, UT component and opted for a virtual fest.

Picard Season 2 Executive Producers are Alex Kurtzman (with Akiva Goldsman), Stewart, Terry Matalas and Michael Chabon. Doug Aarniokoski is Doug Aarniokoski. Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Dylan Massin, Doug Aarniokoski and Dylan Massin are all part of Picard Season 2. Aaron Baiers, Kirsten Beyer and Terry Matalas serve as co-executive producer. Co-showrunners of Season 2 are Terry Matalas and Goldsman.

The show was renewed in September for a third season, just before its Season 2 premiere. Seasons 2 and 3 were filmed simultaneously.
