“90 minutes later, a woman from across the aisle opened her windows and sat looking out at the Atlantic Ocean.

“I was awoken as was the stranger beside me.

“I got up after 20 minutes and walked to the window to ask them to open their blind so that everyone could sleep.

“She and her husband looked at each other like I had asked them to jump out of that window.

“I pressed them and they finally closed it 30 minutes later for the rest of my flight.

“The level of light went down exponentially when it shut.”

Many people stood with the woman and told her she could look out the window because she had paid for it.

One of them said: “The person with the shade open paid for their ticket the same and should be able to use their space as they see fit.”

A second: “If you wanted a shared space to be dark, why didn’t you bring a sleeping/eye mask?”

Others argued for the passenger and said that the pilot asked passengers to close their blinds.

One of them said: “The pilot told everyone to shut their blinds. If the person flying the plane says to do something, it’s not optional at that point.”
