They won’t have access to any conversation.

It’s an unusual move that could upset teens who enjoy the app’s secretive nature.

However, it will be of great help to parents and guardians who are worried.

They don’t even have the need to take their children’s phones with them every time they use it.

For caregivers over 25 years old, you will need to set up a Snapchat account in order to have access to Family Center.

Once they’ve connected up with the child they’ll be able access a special section of the app which contains all the details.

You can also report to grown-ups any suspicious accounts.

The feature can only be used on accounts that are 13-18 years old. It is therefore dependent on young users being honest with their age.

These accounts have stricter rules. They can only message friends who are already friends.

“Family Center is designed to reflect the way that parents engage with their teens in the real world, where parents usually know who their teens are friends with and when they are hanging out – but don’t eavesdrop on their private conversations,”Snap.

“Our goal is to help empower parents and teens in a way that still protects a teenager’s autonomy and privacy.”

The firm plans to add additional safety features, including an alert for parents if their children add a new friend.

Parents will also have access to new content controls, and teens can notify their parents when they report an incident or piece of content.

Family Center is now available in the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and New Zealand.

It will be available in other countries starting in the autumn.
