THE owner of a full-size Lancaster cockpit replica hopes it won’t bomb when it’s auctioned for £150,000.
Norman Groom, 85 years old, spent six decades building his 6ft x 15ft bomber from scratch in his garage.

A retired electronics engineer traveled the nation to find and purchase all the original equipment sold in aero jumble sales throughout the 1990s.

Single Norman, the Beds-based poet, stated: “Every rivet is in the right place.”
He met a friend who was rebuilding an old bomber at an Aero Jumble in 1990. This gave him the inspiration to build it.
After deciding to build the plane himself, he was granted access out of hours to the Imperial War Museum London. He took close up photos and drew plans.
He had to construct an extension to his garage in order to accommodate the parts of the plane during the construction.
It will likely be on display at Flints Auctions in Newbury, Berks.
Flints Auctions in Newbury will auction the replica.
Auctioneer Matt Nunn said: “It is a truly unique and amazing object to come up for sale.
“This is the closest that people can now come to owning one of these iconic planes.”
