Samsung Dealt a Crushing Blow as iFixit Ends Repair Partnership

SAMSUNG was dealt a massive blow when its repair partner, iFixit, announced that it would be severing ties. The repair hub, which launched in 2022, announced Thursday that the split comes after numerous issues with the brand.

iFixit Ends Partnership with Samsung Due to Misalignment

“It is with a heavy wrench that we have decided to end our Samsung collaboration,” the company said in a brief statement on X, the social media platform that used to be Twitter. “Despite lots of effort, Samsung’s approach to repairability does not align with our mission.”
iFixit went further in-depth on their website. “Two years ago we launched iFixit’s Samsung Repair Hub with the goal of building an incredible, repair-friendly ecosystem,” they wrote.

Struggles with Samsung’s Repair Initiative

IFixit says that starting in June, they will no longer be Samsung’s designated third-party parts and tools distributor.

The fiery statement against Samsung comes months after several users complained about their phones. In April, Samsung owners took to Reddit in a thread called “We were spoiled back then” to discuss the current state of phones.

Samsung’s Environment-Friendly Packaging Changes

Samsung defended the change by saying that having fewer items in the packaging was due to environmental concerns.

The company added that it was “trying to eliminate unnecessary waste of resources by prioritizing compatibility between product components.”
