Oscar Isaac, Vanessa Kirby, Tahar Rasim to Be Part of Marrakech Film Festival’s Jury

Marrakech International Film Festival is making a comeback, this year featuring a star-studded Jury that includes Oscar Isaac (“Scenes from a Marriage”), Vanessa Kirby (“The Son”), French actor Tahar Rahim (“The Serpent”), Australian director Justin Kurzel (“Nitram”) and Danish director Susanne Bier (“The Undoing”).

Nadine Labaki, a Lebanese actor and director, is (“Caparnum”), German actor Diane Kruger (“Inglorious Basterds”) and Moroccan director Laïla Marrakchi (“Marock”The jury was made up of a high-profile group.

Paolo Sorrentino was the Oscar-winning filmmaker of “The Great Beauty” “The Hand of God,”The jury consists of 10 countries on four continents.

This year’s jury underscores the growing profile of the festival as one of the major film celebrations in the Arab world. Morocco has been a preferred shooting location for filmmakers since the 1970s.

The Marrakech Film Festival’s competition lineup is dedicated to the discovery of international filmmakers. It will mark the first edition curated by Rémi Bonhomme, a well-respected former program manager for Cannes’ Critics Week, who was appointed artistic director of Marrakech fest in 2020. The 2020 and 2021 editions of the Marrakech fest were cancelled due to the pandemic.

Bonhomme will also continue spearheading the Atlas Workshops, Marrakech festival’s industry platform dedicated to supporting filmmakers from the African continent and the Arab world. At a later stage, the lineup will be revealed. The festival’s 19th anniversary will take place from Nov. 11-19.
