Oprah Winfrey, Apple and other content partners are closing down.
Winfrey and the streamer struck an agreement “multi-year content partnership”Sources confirmed their ending of the deal in January 2018.
It is two days after Sidney, a Winfrey-exec produced documentary on Sidney Poitier’s life, was premiered on the service.
Although Winfrey and the tech giant are winding down their official partnership – not renewing the deal – sources suggest that they will continue to work together on a project-by-project basis.
Winfrey also made Oprah ConversationsMental health and wellness special The Me You Can’t SeeApple TV+ as well as Oprah’s Book Club, which is available via Apple Books, it’s clear that the deal didn’t produce a huge swathe of content.
Winfrey was also involved in high-profile projects like Oprah with Meghan & Harry AndAdele, One Night OnlyThe interview was conducted by Harpo.
Deadline last year revealed that Winfrey would be getting the biographical documentary treatment, along with a two-part documentary feature by Kevin Macdonald. It’s not clear if that project is still in the works.
