New Edition and New Kids Face Off at ‘Battle of Boston’ 2021 AMAs

New Edition and New Kids on the Block fought at the 2021 American Music Awards. They performed in the show’s “a” category. “Battle of Boston.”

After a video intro, the two Boston-formed bands — who’d never performed together onstage — took turns in the spotlight, singing teases and hooks of various hits.

New Kids opened with the New Kids signature cut “You Got It (The Right Stuff),”All choreography was perfected, even the pendulum swing. The choreography was then taken over by New Edition. “Candy Girl,”Their own set of sophisticated dance moves.

It was basically rapid-fire nostalgia, with the non-stop medley touching on New Kids’ “Step By Step” “Hangin’ Tough,” along with New Edition’s “Can You Stand the Rain” “Mr. Telephone Man.”

Both groups tackled tracks together, including New Edition ballad “Is This the End,”This supposed wrapping should be done before wrapping. “battle”Celebrate with cheers and hugs of joy.

Clearly there’s nothing but love between the two acts. “It’s a brotherhood from Boston,” New Kids’ Donnie Wahlberg told The Boston Globe. “That’s how we see it.”

Olivia Rodrigo is the leader of all 2021 AMA nominees, with seven total. The Weekend follows with six. Bad Bunny and Doja Cat tied for fifth with five nominations each.
