Lin-Manuel Miranda Introduces ‘Tick, Tick … Boom!’Video of Youth Theater Music

Netflix released a music clip featuring students at performing arts public high school in Los Angeles, Baltimore and Chicago as well as New York performing. “Louder than Words” from Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Tick, Tick … Boom!,” the film adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s musical of the same name.

The four participating public high schools and one non-profit youth theater include the Baltimore School for the Arts, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing & Visual Arts in Dallas, the Chicago School for the Arts, Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) and Tada! Youth Theater in New York.

“I got my start in my school’s performing arts program,” said Miranda. “These programs are vital, not only to the entertainment industry but to our culture. It’s important for us to celebrate the next generation of actors, singers, and performers. So, in the spirit of reaching for the stars and pursuing your dreams, we invited schools across the country to celebrate the debut of ‘Tick, Tick … Boom!’ on Netflix.”

Lucy Liu is appointed Executive Producer ‘Unzipped: An Autopsy of American Inequality’

Lucy Liu has joined the documentary’s executive producer team “Unzipped: An Autopsy of American Inequality.” Written and directed by Colin K. Gray, this film focuses on Venice, Calif. as it’s become the frontline for America’s battles over gentrification, lack of affordable housing and homelessness.

“As a long-time UNICEF ambassador, I’ve seen how housing is one of the most important social determinants of health around the globe, for children in particular. I was moved by the stories in ‘Unzipped’ and how the film humanizes the lived experiences of several families struggling with America’s own affordable housing crisis,”Liu. “I am hopeful this documentary will help catalyze debate and action on how to better protect the most vulnerable in society.”

Liu will be joining a diverse crew that includes Run The Jewels (who contributed tracks to the movie) and executive producers Theresa Steele Page. They also include Time Headington, Amaechi Umoigwe and Lorien Gabel, as well as Carol J. Gronner and Megan Raney Aarons, JamilaC. Fairley, and Jamila C. Fairley. The film is produced jointly by Grainey Pictures, Ley Line Entertainment and Carol J. Gronner.
