My wife wants us to do matching names for our twins – but I refuse because I think they’ll be bullied for it

ONE of the most stressful things about welcoming a child into the world – aside from pushing them out, of course – is picking a name.

The father is having a problem because his wife wants him to name their unborn twins the same names. However, he knows that it will be bad news.

Reddit was the place where the father of three, 33, opened up to other users about his fight with his wife.

He stated that he was a future father to two boys. My wife and me have been discussing names for our twins. I want them to be identical.

“I said I don’t like the idea, I have a twin sister who I matched everything with and it got so annoying to me.”

His wife laughed and clapped back at his husband, telling him that she thinks it is cute when twins have identical names. However, “I told her that for the sake and safety of our children, let’s not make matching names and only allow them to match on things they want.”

He explained to his sister that his mother and wife are pushing for matching names. However, he and his sisters disagree.

Many people commented on his question asking if he was right for putting his foot down.

One person said: “It may be cute, but your twins still are individuals.”

“It amazes me how many twin parents seem to lose sight of this (I have twins, their names don’t match and neither do their clothes unless they want them to).

“Time to remind your wife your twins are individuals just like you and your sister are.”

The second one came in and said: “I have twin friends with matching names, they both look the same too and they hate each other’s names. Everyone could guess the reason.”

Another commenter added: “My sister has extremely similar names to mine and we aren’t even twins.

“It’s annoying as hell because our parents can’t even get it right and it’s been a decade and a half since we were born.”

In this situation, who should you give up? The twin dad with experience and the mom who has the actual twins.
