MLB Star Jakob Junis Hospitalized After Tragic Accident: Details Revealed
Jakob Junis Hospitalized
MLB star Jakob Junis has been taken to hospital following a freak accident during practice.
The 31-year-old pitcher was hit on the neck by a fly ball as the Milwaukee Brewers prepared to face the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday.
The Accident
Junis was standing in the infield as Pirates infielder Alika Williams hit balls at batting practice at PNC Park.
An errant fly ball from Williams looped over towards Junis, striking him hard on the side of the neck.
The Brewers pitcher sunk to the floor and was immediately tended to by teammates and medical staff.
Junis remained laid out on the field for 20 minutes, per NBC Sports.
Recovery and Support
Junis was selected in the 29th round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals.
He made his MLB bow for the team in 2017 and joined the Royals starting rotation a season later.
Junis left the Royals to join the San Francisco Giants in 2022, before switching to the Brewers last offseason.
Current Status
Junis was placed on the 15-day injured list on April 6 due to a shoulder injury.
The Brewers slipped to 14-7 on the regular season in Junis’s absence on Monday night.
They went down 4-2 to the Pirates (12-11), with Andrew McCutchen recording 3 hits and a home run.
