Michael Strahan’s Public Display of Concern Walking The Streets of NYC

Michael, 52, dressed smartly as he left his New York apartment. He wore gray pin-striped slacks with a grey jumper on top to protect himself from the cool city air. The presenter threw a black tailored jacket over his outfit and strode along the streets while looking solemn. Michael completed the look with a pair of white Nike sneakers and a blue sweater over his arm. In his hands, he held a couple of gift bags and books, which he could have been taking over to keep his daughter occupied during her treatments. Michael placed his hand into his pocket and looked downcast while walking. The presenter has been working hard despite the bad news in his family and will host on Sunday, January 28, for the NFL game between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers. Michael announced the news of his daughter’s brain tumour alongside Isabella on GMA.

Isabella’s Emotional Interview & Diagnosis

Isabella wore a pink crop top while prepping for her big Good Morning America interview. She sat next to her father and broke down in tears as she revealed she had medulloblastoma during the emotional appearance. The star was diagnosed in late October and had emergency surgery to remove a golfball-sized mass in her brain. Michael took a weeks-long break from hosting GMA at the time, citing “personal family matters.” Isabella claimed at first she experienced headaches and dizziness which she thought was vertigo.

Days Since Diagnosis: The Recovery Process

After throwing up blood and telling her sister, Michael suggested she got a check-up which lead to her diagnosis. Isabella underwent emergency surgery at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles to remove the mass on October 27 – the day before her 19th birthday. She said her recollection of her recovery is foggy, and she had to learn how to walk again with the help of her twin sister Sophia. Michael said he didn’t remember much of the process. “I just remember trying to figure out how to get to LA ASAP. And it just doesn’t feel real. It just didn’t feel real,” he claimed.

Social Media and What’s Next

Public Show of Support and The Journey Ahead

Since her diagnosis, Isabella has taken to social media periodically to update fans on her progress. Recently, her rarely-seen boyfriend Landen Smith shared a photo of Isabella shaving his head to show his solidarity with her. He sat down shirtless at a vanity as Isabella stood behind him with the razor. “Continue inspiring the wrld. I’ll be here every step of the way,” Landen captioned the post. He shared other photos with his girlfriend, including the pair cozying up together on a plane. Isabella is due to start chemotherapy at Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center in Durham, North Carolina, in February. “That’s my next step. I’m ready for it to start and be one day closer to being over,” she said. The star is also documenting her process on a new YouTube series to help other patients.
