Melissa Rauch Shares a Funny The Big Bang Theory Detail That You Most Likely Never Noticed While Looking

The Big Bang Theory’s Melissa Rauch is a notably small human. Entire articles are dedicated to the fact that she is reportedly only 4’11” in height. Being short compared to the average population can have its challenges, and that’s true even if you are one of the highest paid actresses on one of the most popular network sitcoms. The actress shared a Chuck Lorre story that was about her height. I’m willing to bet it’s something you never noticed.

While playing Bernadette The Big Bang TheoryThe series was fond of using the same set-ups for characters’ hangouts. A lot of these setups involved couches — particularly the couch in Sheldon’s apartment. Due to their super deep seating arrangements, these couch configurations are quite awkward. This could be disastrous for anyone with short legs such as Rauch.

Fun fact: The couch we were sitting on was difficult to move around on. Because it was very deep and I’m — I mean I look very tall and stately on this Zoom — but I’m about 5 feet so every time I’d sit back my legs would just go up. So they’d always have to, I was like propped up with pillows at all times! And if I wasn’t, I would need like a hoist to get me up. You can often see how many pillows are supporting me, if you pay attention.

Melissa Rauch recently had a full interview with Cafe Mom’s Momtourage podcastIn which she discussed all things motherhood The Big Bang Theory. She mentioned her height-related issues with her couch when this topic came up. Honestly, I’d never noticed before, but now I can’t unsee it. Here’s Melissa Rauch with pillows perched behind her on one couch.

It seems like Rauch had a problem with the couch, no matter what couch they were viewing. Another tactic the show used to place Melissa Rauch next to the famous couch was, apparently. If she’d sat back on that couch, she’d likely be in one of those uncomfortable positions where her feet just dangled awkwardly like a small child’s. (As someone who is also not particularly tall, I’ve been there, and don’t care to repeat the experience.)

The long-running sitcom clearly made it a point to spend time with the couch as it was an ideal way to frame hangout scenes. Nevertheless, these photos don’t look very comfortable to me now that I have really looked closely. Jim Parsons, who is a reported 6’1”, looks a little crowded here and the whole gang has to fit into the framed shot. We can all blame Sheldon and those who created his shot. Tendency to always sit in the same spot You can rest on the couch for any discomfort that may develop over the years.

The Big Bang Theory’s final episode aired in 2019, but a couple of years later, some fun new tidbits continue to roll out related to the show. It’s no real surprise. It’s no surprise that the sitcom was so popular it was forced to end its run by Jim Parsons, rather than due to the dramatic ratings drop experienced by older shows. Fans will likely continue to be invested in what the cast has to say for years, and we’ll be sure to bring you any other fun new details and Easter eggs that come our way.
