WestJet has announced that guests onboard their 737 and 787 aircraft can upgrade their seats when traveling in an economy cabin. Those who opt for the option will receive priority boarding and early access to the overhead bin space. Once seated, they will have three to six inches of extra legroom in a distinct section and be given a complimentary alcoholic beverage.

Passengers will now need to pay $10 when booking online, and an additional $10 for fees paid at the airport with an agent. “It’s just a clear cash grab,” Taryn Zielke of Regina told CBC. “Did you have to raise the baggage fees by $5? Like, could you have not done that?”
