Marvel’s Jaimie Alexander Steals Spotlight as Wonder Woman in Epic DCU Fan Art

Title: Jaimie Alexander Almost Played Wonder Woman Instead of Gal Gadot

In an interview with Variety, Jaimie Alexander discussed how she came close to taking on the part of Wonder Woman, which she was briefly in talks for in 2013 before Gal Gadot got the gig. By then, she’d appeared in “Thor” and “Thor: The Dark World,” and she acknowledged her dedicated alliance with the comic book movie character.

“I was one of a few people that were an obvious choice for Wonder Woman, but it was never going to happen,” Alexander explained. “I’m contracted with Marvel, and it would (be) strange. Sif, in her way, is Marvel’s Wonder Woman. They’re both ethereal and have armor and a sword, and have special abilities; the physicality of the role is very similar.”

Sif in the Marvel Universe

While there are certainly some comparisons between Wonder Woman and Sif, they have received very different treatments in their respective properties, with Alexander’s take on a close ally to Thor (Chris Hemsworth) getting dealt a slightly bad hand. After making fleeting appearances alongside Asgard’s hero, her last appearance was in “Thor: Love and Thunder,” which saw her back at full health training kids in New Asgard alongside Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson).

Sif in the MCU

There’s no confirmation on whether Sif will reappear in the MCU, but it would be great to see her do so, if only to get more time with a different heroic wonder of a woman.
