A few days ago, rumors circulated that Marvel would reveal the truth. Moon Knight release date soon, which means the studio’s firstMoon KnightThe trailer was also ready. A teaser was shown in the background, but we had not seen it before. It was November during Disney Plus Day. A teaser was shown over the weekend, and it told us that this was the first. Moon KnightThe trailer would be released during Monday Night Football. And Marvel delivered.
We get to see Oscar Isaac’s Steven Grant/Marc Spector and Moon Knight characters in action for the first time. This new addition to the Avengers roster of superheroes is something we aren’t sure what to make of. What’s clear, however, is that we’re finally getting a Marvel TV show that has a brand new protagonist. This is a first on Disney+ and fans are very excited.
The MCU Phase 4’s new heroes
MCU Phase 4’s first year brought many new MCU heroes.
Black WidowYelena Belova (Florence Pugh) was delivered, and then Shang-Chi [Simu Liu] was introduced. Shang-Chi, the Legend of the Ten Rings and Shang-Chi. EternalsTen new superheroes were introduced, while others will continue to make an appearance in the MCU. Then Spider-Man has no way home delivered the MCU’s Daredevil (Charlie Cox).
We met Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), when it comes to TV programs. WandaVision. Then we got Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) in LokiLoki’s variant. What If…?Captain Carter (Hayley Awell) was joined by the Watcher (Jeffrey Wright). 2021 ended in a bang with Kate Bishop (Hailee Steingfeld) virtually taking over the show. Hawkeye. The TV series also featured Yelena (Alaquacox) and Echo (Alaquacox).
That’s to say, we met plenty of new Avengers before the first Moon KnightTeaser trailer released. The new entrants are not the main protagonists in Disney Plus shows.
Bishop’s version of Hawkeye comes the closest. The show is primarily about Clint Barton, a well-known Avenger who fans longed to see as a standalone project.
The first Moon KnightTrailer
Shang-ChiAnd Eternals were the only two stories that focused on brand new superheroes that we’re just getting to know. Moon KnightOne will be the next. Marvel decided to show the mysterious, very dark superhero on TV.
Marvel comics fans who have read them know what to expect. The character will be revealed to everyone else as we move on. That’s an exciting prospect for a new Marvel character. Also, since we haven’t seen Steven Grant/Marc Spector or Moon Knight anywhere else so far, we have no expectations for the character.
We don’t know what kind of adventures await us or what villain Moon Knight will face. As seen in the first trailer, we know Ethan Hawke is our antagonist. But his character isn’t formally introduced.
What’s clear is that we’re going to get a different sort of origin story here. Spector is a troubled person, with mental illness being a clear theme. Moon Knight. Moon Knight is an ancient Egyptian superhero. But the main action will unfold in Europe mainly, with the UK being the protagonist’s home.
With that in mind, it’ll be interesting to see how the action in Moon KnightThis connects to Avengers. The story’s place in the MCU Phase4 timeline. The first Moon Knight trailer doesn’t explain any of that, but you can watch it in full below.
