The MCU Phase 4’s big multiverse theme confirmed that the primary reality has a specific name. We’ve been following Earth-616 all along, a designation that appeared in Loki Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It also gave birth to Earth-838 which is an alternate timeline featuring X-Men (Inhumans), and the Fantastic Four.
The Multiverse of MadnessAlready teased, the finale might not be the end of Earth-838. And now there’s a rumor claiming that Marvel will explore that reality on Disney PlusNext year. Before we dive in, here are some things to consider. Below are spoilers.
What Disney Plus shows will feature Earth-838 in their programs?
According to Moth_CultureMarvel intends to explore Earth-838 using Disney Plus shows. It’s unclear what the studio has in store for fans or what Disney Plus shows will feature Earth-838.
Three characters are featured in the tweet below. We’re looking at Mister Fantastic (John Krasinski), who died in Doctor Strange 2. Then there’s Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), who should appear in LokiSeason 2.
Out of all the TV shows that are currently being announced, LokiIt makes sense to feature Earth-838 events. That’s because the show will continue the story in the first season. And LokiTakes place in multiverse.
Then there’s What If…?season 2. Season 2. Loki, it’s a multiverse show, one that could tell stories featuring Earth-838 superheroes.
But we’re only speculating at this point. Moth_Culture doesn’t specify any Disney Plus shows that will feature Earth-838. Or the source of this rumor.
Even without a leak telling us to expect Earth-838 action on Disney Plus, we haven’t forgotten about that world. And that’s all thanks to the Multiverse of Madness post-credits scene.
Clea (CharlizeTheron) meets Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), in order to tell him that he caused an incursion. That’s a phenomenon he just learned about while visiting Earth-838.
Why Earth-838 matters so much
Strange could cause an incursion on Earth-838, and Earth-616 may become involved in some event that might lead to a major. Secret Wars finale. Again, this is speculation, but if that’s the endgame of the current saga, then Marvel has to explore Earth-838 to some degree. We must care as much about Earth-616’s antagonists as we did Thanos.
Earth-838 is an amazing place. The successful Avengers project on this world resulted in a similarly successful Ultron defense program. Earth-838 also contains Inhumans and mutants. To keep the threats away, they created The Illuminati. They have also defeated Thanos before he could get all the Infinity Stones.
Separately, when the Earth-616’s Avengers fought Thanos, they did not stop until they prevailed. Even though that meant dealing with five years of disasters in the interim.
Earth-838 has never suffered such a devastating defeat. That’s probably why Earth-616’s Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) was able to beat the Illuminati so easily. They were too confident in their powers to see the true danger.
Earth-838, however, is quite similar to Earth-616. The 838 superhumans could be seeking revenge for Wanda’s murder by the Illuminati. They may want to punish those responsible. That’s Doctor Strange and Wanda from Earth-616. Marvel could explore Earth-838 through Disney Plus.
Wanda: Earth-838 has a Wanda that has not experienced the same heartbreak as primary Wanda. Marvel may need a Wanda in the future MCU. Disney Plus adventures. Because Wanda is not a villain.
