Mark Kelly Named Arizona Senate Seat Winner in Tight Midterm Race

Mark Kelly has been elected to the full six-year U.S. Senate term for Arizona. The incumbent’s close victory puts the Democrats one vital step closer to continuing to control the upper chamber.

CNN, NNC, among others, declared that Blake Masters, the Republican challenger, had been on a strong track to defeat the ex-astronaut who was elected to Senate in a special election in 2020. The race for Arizona governor is still too close to call, but Democrat Adrian Fontes has now been declared the winner for the state’s pivotal Secretary of State position over self-described Oath Keeper Mark Finchem.

Kelly’s seat was widely seen among the most vulnerable among all Democratic incumbents.

“It’s a disaster, it’s a giant mess to try to unmix these ballots,” GOP candidate Masters told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson tonight of the tide turning to Kelly, and some minor irregularities and tabulations in Maricopa County. The Republican National Committee claimed that there were no irregularities in the voting process in Arizona. This added doubt to the election results. “deep flaws”In the Maricopa County vote count:

Nevada’s Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), and Republican Adam Laxalt (R-NV) are locked in a tight race for votes. Laxalt is currently leading with 55,000 votes to go and less than 800 votes between them.

If Cortez Mato wins, Democrats would have at least 50 seats. That’s the same as the previous two years. Vice President Kamala Harris provided the tie-breaker vote and they will retain their Senate majority. If Cortez Massto loses, Democrats still have the chance to hold control of Georgia’s runoff election on December 6, when Sen. Raphael Warnock (D–GA) will take on Republican Herschel Walker.

Kelly, the husband and former Rep. Gabby Giffords received the largest amount of campaign donations from the entertainment sector, drawing nearly $620,000 by the end of the last month according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Only Senator Warnock (D–GA) and Senator Chuck Schumer (D–NY) raised more money from the entertainment industry.
