Love and Thunder Star Christian Bale Was Not Hesitant To Play Gorr

One of the biggest reasons to go is to see “Thor: Love and Thunder” on the biggest screen possible this weekend is to witness Christian Bale’s return to superhero cinema. The former is still available. “Batman Begins”Star is playing Gorr, the God Butcher, a villain who challenges morality. While absolutely terrifying in the role (Bale fully embodies him just like he does every other performance), the actor wasn’t so sure about translating the character Just what it saysAs he appears in comic books.

Co-writer and director Taika Waititi gave Bale a series of Jason Aaron-penned comic books to help him prepare for the role. And when Bale looked at the books he was intrigued … and slightly worried. “I did have a look briefly and said, ‘He’s got a G-string on. Nobody wants to see me like that,’”Bale spoke in a recent interview (you’ll find the video above).

“He was also crazy musclebound in the comics. And I was in the middle of making another film where I was really quite skinny. I said, ‘Dude, nobody wants to see me in a G-string.’ And there’s no point in working out at all because you can’t compete with Chris.”Bale and Waititi reached an agreement on a new character. It was not as comic book-accurate, but it is still as complex and frightening.

In the video, you can hear more from Waititi, Bale, and Waititi as well as their co-stars Natalie Portman (and Tessa Thompson). Also, watch “Thor: Love and Thunder” – in theaters now!
