Loki changes its episode release strategy for season 2 in bold new move for the MCU

The Loki season 2 release date and time marks a bold new step for the way Marvel Studios unveils its highly-anticipated episodic content, giving fans exactly what they want after the successful rollout of Star Wars series Ahsoka.

Starring Tom Hiddleston in the iconic role of the titular God of Mischief, Loki first premiered on Disney+ in the summer of 2021 and delighted audiences by focusing the spotlight on the fan-favorite character at long last. Throwing in stars like Owen Wilson was an inspired choice, and after a season 1 recap you’ll want to know when exactly you can expect the Marvel show’s lower budget return to screens, so here’s the Loki season 2 release date and time.

Loki season 2 release date and time

Loki season 2 is scheduled to premiere in the US on Thursday, October 5th 2023 at 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT.

Season 1 episodes were previously released on Wednesdays but at the more inconvenient time of 12:01 AM Pacific / 3:01 AM Eastern.

This marks the beginning of a new release strategy for Marvel Studios content on Disney+, with new episodes receiving a primetime slot instead of a midnight release. A primetime slot suggests priority and may lead to higher viewership on release day.

Not only that, but this strategy means that other territories outside of the US will get installments earlier too.

This revised release follows in the footsteps of Ahsoka, which recently premiered its installments in a primetime slot instead of the usual midnight time that has been reinforced as commonplace for Disney+ content.

How many episodes in Loki season 2?

Loki season 2 will be made up of six episodes in total.

This continues the tradition set by season 1, and you can check out the schedule (US) for all episodes below:

Loki season 2 gets weirder

Executive producer Kevin Wright recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about getting stranger with Loki’s second season.

“We made a weird show [in season 1], and people responded to how weird it was,” he admitted. “So, we wanted to push it further.”

With the likes of Academy Award-winner Ke Huy Quan joining the cast too, it’s going to be an event.

Loki is streaming exclusively on Disney+.
