Liverpool FC legend gets his room named after him in a viral joke

After a viral joke that saw him apologize to a British supermarket, a former Liverpool FC legend had an event space named in his honor.

Jan Molby, who was an Liverpool player, became part a viral gag when Troy Hawke played the role of a greeter at the fictional Liverpool. ‘Greeters’ Guild’ outside a Waitrose and said the act had been approved by Molby.

The bemused staff claimed they didn’t know the identity of the ex-Liverpool player, prompting the comedian to ask for an apology from the supermarket.

Waitrose staff responded by singing Lady Gaga’s hit ‘Paparazzi’And dancing with Molby pictures adorned with love hearts to apologize.

John Lewis in Liverpool, however, went further to show their love for the former player by renaming their community area ‘The Jan Molby Room’The wall has been decorated with photographs from his football career.

John Lewis and Waitrose are both part the John Lewis Partnership. This is the UK’s largest employee-owned company.

Jan Molby was even present at the room’s unveiling last week, where he cut the ribbon and greeted fans.

Kylie Gilson, manager of John Lewis Liverpool said: “When we heard about Waitrose accidentally snubbing Jan we knew we had to make amends.

“Jan’s a local legend, and knows a lot of people at the store, so it was great to welcome him back. He’s taken it all in great humour, and spent ages catching up with his fans. Hopefully that’s an apology accepted!”

Pauline Olsen, John Lewis staffer, appeared star-struck after she saw the ex-footballer. “dream dinner guest”.

“Pauline’s a season ticket holder and a Liverpool fan through and through. If anything, today’s made her even more of a fan – she’ll have those dinner invites sent in no time”Ms Gilson agreed.
