Kelly Kay and late University of Oregon football player Spencer Webb’s baby boy is no longer a baby. The pair’s son, Spider Webb, their only child, celebrated his first birthday on March 30, more than a year and a half after his dad’s tragic death.
A Heartfelt Celebration
Kelly shared throwback pictures of the now-toddler on her Instagram Stories, expressing, “My lil spidey man is already 1.” While she did not disclose the specifics of how she and her son commemorated his special day, she did share a heartwarming mirror selfie of the two, mentioning that it was a “successful bday weekend for spi!”
An Outpouring of Love
Expressing her gratitude for all the love and well-wishes, Kelly stated, “Thanks for all the love & wishes. I’m going to make sure he knows one day just how loved & supported he is by everybody.” The journey of raising Spider without his father has been a challenging yet rewarding experience for Kelly.
Remembering Spencer Webb
Spencer, affectionately called Spider and known for his role as a tight end for the Oregon Ducks, tragically passed away at the young age of 22 from an accidental fall while hiking in July 2022. A week after his sudden death, Kelly discovered she was pregnant with their son, a bittersweet revelation that has since shaped their lives.
The journey of Kelly Kay and her son Spider Webb is a poignant tale of resilience, love, and the enduring bond between a mother and her child in the face of adversity. As they continue to navigate life’s challenges, the memory of Spencer Webb lives on in their hearts, inspiring them to cherish each moment and embrace the journey ahead.
