Kristen Stewart has recently appeared on Variety’s Awards Circuit PodcastClayton Davis will host a chat with you about the topic Her performance was surrounded by awards-related hype as Princess Diana in Pablo Larrain’s Spencer. Clayton Davis asked Kristen Stewart what her thoughts were about her royal role in securing an Oscar nomination. She gave a charmingly flippant answer:
I don’t give a shit. [laughs]
While her sarcasm was evident, it’s clear that Kristen Stewart didn’t take on the role of Princess Diana in the hopes of garnering industry acclaim. You can find her throughout. Kristen Stewart did acknowledge the Oscars’ importance and the role that the nominated films can play in the cultural zeitgeist. She explained:
The Oscars can be so funny. There are so many amazing performances and movies that rarely get seen. It definitely says something about where we’re at as a cumulative presence – what we’re looking at, what we care about. It’s a great thing that something I was involved in has sparked such a wide conversation. We don’t make movies to not connect with each other.
Kristen Stewart is also more than aware of the industry’s perception of her views. She notes that many interviewers have been hesitant to broach the topic of awards, although she’s not sure where that comes from. She stated:
Although I don’t know how I intend to continue this, it’s always like “I’m sure that you don’t want talk about this and this doesn’t matter to your at all, but what do I think about it?” And like, I’m stoked! This is my first ever time! It’s not to be deferred, but it speaks to her. [Diana’s]Resonance is a constant, unstoppable reverberating force…It’s nice to hear people talking about it and I hope we get an Oscar for it! [laughs]

SpencerThe film is now in theaters all over the world. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AAMPA) will announce the 2022 Oscar nominees in February 2022. This will be followed by the formal ceremony on the 27th.
