Adel was found guilty in the murder of the student at Mansoura University. The court sentenced him to death on July 6.

The Egyptian court requested that Parliament broadcast the execution live to deter other similar crimes.

Mansoura Courthouse wrote this in its letter addressed to MPs “The broadcast, even if only part of the start of proceedings, could achieve the goal of deterrence, which was not achieved by broadcasting the sentencing itself.”

The verdict was made public on July 24, although appeals may be filed.

CCTV captured the horrendous attack. Naira is seen being attacked by her attacker as she gets off her bus on June 20 for her final exams.

He jumps on her as she falls to the floor and repeatedly stabs her in the neck.

Naira succumbed to her injuries after her throat was severed.

Later, it was revealed that the killer had stalked and killed the student via Facebook after he ghosted her on the platform and refused to marry him.

Public television has not aired a capital punishment since 1998 when state TV broadcast three men convicted of killing a woman in Cairo and her children.
