Kate Middleton was scolded by Queen Elizabeth when she first began dating Prince William: Source

The story of Queen Elizabeth II’s reprimanding Kate Middleton is included in a new book about the British royals. According to author Katie NichollShe was unhappy with Middleton’s frequent vacations and the amount of time she spent in luxurious locations during her “working hours”. Middleton was reportedly instructed to “get an actual job.”

Nicholl covered the royals as a broadcaster, journalist and writer for several years. Her book William and Harry – Behind the Palace Walls The book was first published in 2010. However, in light of Queen Elizabeth’s recent death we have a fascinating anecdote. Has resurfaced on the internet. Nicholl claims that the queen confronted Middleton after she returned from a luxurious skiing trip in Mustique. In 2009, when the U.K. economy was suffering, Middleton was on a lavish skiing trip to Mustique.

Nicholl said that such frivolous displays were not acceptable to Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen felt that while the rest the world was speculating about a possible engagement between William and Kate the Queen wanted to wait until Kate settled into a career.

Nicholl quoted an insider at the palace who said: “Her Majesty believes that Kate needs to have a job if she is going to one day be William’s wife.” Middleton held a few jobs prior to her engagement with Prince William. She was most notable for handling marketing at Party Pieces, the event supplies business owned by her parents. Even so, some insiders thought it was bad for Middleton to continue to enjoy luxuries others couldn’t afford.

Middleton was “stung” when she heard the Queen’s assessment. Middleton worked outside of the royal family from January 2011 onwards. She held various positions, including Party Pieces as well as other marketing ventures and photography jobs. In October 2010, she and Prince William were engaged while on a 10-day Kenyan vacation. They married in April 2011.

Middleton, as she is known today, has been a major player in the business of the monarchy. She officially became the “Princess” of Wales after the coronation and will become queen when Prince William ascends to the throne. Nicholl was told by insiders that Middleton had taken the words of Queen Elizabeth to heart. Even years after the words were spoken, Middleton seems to still be considering them.
