It’s been a little over a year since the last episode of the final season of Supernatural aired, and the fandom still isn’t quite over it. Following the end of the long-running series, leads Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki have both moved on to other major roles, but it looks like they’re still holding onto their inner Winchester too. Ackles celebrated his on-screen persona’s birthday by comparing a Season 1 Dean Winchester to a picture of him from Season 15, and it’s giving me all the feels.

After 15 years working on one show and building a family around it, it seems natural that there would be some kind of absence. The post from the star doesn’t leave a lot to the imagination in regards to just how much the character meant to him. How often do actors give a touching tribute to a fictional person’s birthday?
Jensen Ackles fans seem to have a similar mind, as the comments section is filled of kind words, and heavy hearts. Many people also miss Dean Winchester, and Supernatural. While most fans are commenting in solidarity to how Ackles seems to be feeling about his beloved “imaginary friend,” others are commenting that they wished Dean had a better ending on the series.
Jensen Ackles had to come to terms with himself. SupernaturalThe character’s death and his ending. Supernatural’s last episode featured Dean Winchester’s death. It was not one of the temporary deaths he experienced during the series. Dean found peace in a newly-reformed heaven. It’s an ending that was controversial in the SupernaturalFandom is a position that supports the fan. Ackles believes it is understandable.
You can agree or disagree with the ending, but you must admit that the show was a success. All good things must come to an end.
