Jay Halstead, Chicago PD: What happened?

Jay Halstead left Chicago PD after season 10, episode 3: A Good Man.

The character’s final episode was full of twists and turns as Halstead got into a scuffle with a suspect which ended with Jay stabbing the man to death.

Both Voight and Jay’s wife, Upton, suggested using a cover story to keep his job but after being worn down but constant moral battles, Halstead turned himself in to Chief Patrick O’Neal instead.

Jay explained to his wife, after handing his badge over, that he intended to leave Chicago’s morally grey area in favor of a city where there is clear separation between good and evil.

Halstead stated that he would join a Bolivian taskforce that seeks to eliminate drug cartels in the area.

It’s a hugely dangerous assignment for Halstead and one that will see him move halfway across the world.

He tried to comfort his wife by reassuring her that his time in Bolivia would only last for eight months. However, it remains to be seen if the couple and their relationship will survive that long.
