It turns out that the Battlestar Galactica Movie is more connected to The Peacock Series than we thought.

However Battlestar GalacticaThe popularity of the original series, as well its 2000s reboot, has ensured that the sci-fi genre has never really died. Peacock will also be getting a new series. Mr. Mr.Sam Esmail, showrunner, is the Battlestar Galactica movie that’s been in the works since 2009 is slowly making progress. These two Battlestar projects, it turns out, are not separate but interconnected.

This information comes from producer Simon Kinberg, who’s producing and co-writing the Battlestar GalacticaMovie with Dylan Clark. An interview with Dylan Clark ColliderKinberg stated that the second draft of his script is complete and that the search for a director is under way to direct the feature. Shooting is expected to start in the latter half of this year or early 2023. Kinberg also said the following about the movie’s ties with Peacock’s forthcoming Battlestar Galactica series:

Sam and the show are in a synergy. We communicate regularly and there is a lot of communication. We’ve grown close and have been having a lot of fun together.

These two ideas would have been straightforward to come up with. Battlestar GalacticaWe know now that Simon Kinberg and Sam Esmail collaborated on projects on their own tracks. Kinberg didn’t elaborate on how tightly these Battlestar narratives will be weaved together, though I imagine they’ll be standalone enough that if someone decides to just watch the TV show or movie, it’ll still be easy to follow along with what’s going on.

It’s also worth remembering that rather than being a straightforward reboot, Peacock’s Battlestar GalacticaThe 2000s series series had a similar continuity to the series series. Simon Kinberg mentions a “shared universe,”This applies evidently to the Battlestar Galactica movie. Here’s what Kinberg had to say about that:

There are some connections, but it’s not just a continuation or remake of Ron Moore’s masterpiece.

So just like with Peacock’s Battlestar Galactica series, don’t expect the Battlestar GalacticaThis movie will merely tell the story of humanity’s remnants fleeing from Cylons. After the end of the 2000s Battlestar Galactica series, a prequel called CapricaIt aired for one episode, and the web series was available for the second season. Blood & Chrome was intended to launch a TV series, but it wasn’t picked up. With both of these new projects still in the early developmental stages, it’ll likely be a while until we learn just how they specifically fit into the Battlestar Galactica tapestry.

CinemaBlend will keep your informed about major developments in the Battlestar Galactica movie as well as the companion Peacock Series. For now, you can see Simon Kinberg’s latest movie, The 355The film will be shown in theatres tomorrow, January 7.
