Does Chris Rock have Covid?

American comedian and actor Chris Rock announced to his fans on September 19, 2021 that he had tested positive for Covid.

In a tweet, Rock said: “Hey guys I just found out I have COVID, trust me you don’t want this. Get vaccinated.”

Rock’s diagnosis is considered a breakthrough case because he got the virus after being fully vaccinated.

What is a breakthrough instance?

A breakthrough case occurs when a person who has been fully vaccinated becomes infected with the coronavirus.

Although the Covid-19 vaccine doesn’t completely prevent the virus from infecting someone, studies have shown that the symptoms and risk of hospitalization are much lower.

Celebrities have promoted the benefits of the vaccine using their platforms in the hope that more people will choose to get the vaccine.

What has Chris Rock said about the Covid-19 vaccine?

Despite being a comedian, Rock has been taking the Covid-19 pandemic “very seriously,” and was even seen on CBS Sunday Morning back in January doing an interview with Gayle King outside his home as an extra precaution.

Rock, like all great comedians, eventually laughed about the situation on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show. He revealed that he had received the vaccine.

“I didn’t care. I used my celebrity, Jimmy,” He joked with Fallon in May. “I was like Billy Zane on the Titanic. Leo [DiCaprio] died. Billy Zane lived to see another day. I don’t want to be Leo at the bottom of the ocean. Billy Zane got another woman after that thing. In reality, you want to be Leo — but not in that movie.”

He later revealed that he received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine joking, “that’s the food stamps of vaccines.”
