Jurassic World Season 5: Camp Cretaceous ending explained

Daniel Kon’s plan in Camp Cretaceous season 5 is to use the control chips that Mantah Corp has been developing and then sell remote-control dinosaurs to a host of investors, including BioSyn, the villainous corporation from Jurassic World Dominion.

In order to conduct experiments, Daniel brings a number of dinosaurs from Isla Nublar to Mantah Corp island, including Bumpy, the gang’s lovable Ankylosaurus companion.

Kenji realizes this is too much and begins to work against his father.

Kenji and his friends reunite and together, they stage a fake overload of the island facility’s power core, which causes Daniel to flee the island, saving the dinosaurs in the process.

The gang are finally rescued by Darius’s brother Brand and scientist Mae as well as the returning Roxie and Dave.

The gang finally get to go home. Episode 12 concludes with a time jump that sees them still communicating via video calls.

Kenji is now living with Darius and his family, Yaz and Sammy are still together, Ben is back on the island with Mae and Bumpy, and Brooklynn has been investigating a dinosaur escape at the Lockwood Estate – referencing the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and how the dinosaurs found their way into the real world.

Is Camp Cretaceous done and season 5 is the end?

Yes, Camp Cretaceous is ending with season 5, unfortunately for Jurassic World viewers.

When Netflix confirmed that Camp Cretaceous would become the last season, it sealed Camp Cretaceous’ fate.

Instead of Netflix cancelling Camp Cretaceous, however, the series’ story has been completed and the children have returned home.

In a statement EW, showrunner Scott Kreamer said: “In this final season, our Camp Fam will be challenged like never before.

“They will face new threats, dinosaurs and otherwise. Relationships will be tested, bonds will be broken, and in some cases, changed forever. It’s all been leading up to this. Even after everything our heroes have struggled to overcome over the course of the series, the odds against survival have never been greater, the danger has never been more real and the stakes have never been higher.”

Season 5 brought an end to Camp Cretaceous. However, there are still many stories in Jurassic World’s animated universe. The ending of season 5 leaves a lot of room for interpretation as the gang discovers that the dinosaurs have reached the mainland.

Fans want more

Despite Camp Cretaceous coming to an end with season 5, plenty of fans have taken to social media to demand that the show returns – either for season 6 or as a spin-off.

One Twitter user wrote: “Just finished Camp Cretaceous and I’m pleased to say that I enjoyed the ending very much! If they do decide to keep the movies going, I would like to see a season 6 with a time jump following new events.”

The fan wanted a spin-off. “Camp Cretaceous won’t be getting a season 6, (wouldn’t make sense honestly) but I have hopes they’ll do a spin-off sequel series. I need more of these characters. Camp Fam 4 Life!”

This fan, for his part, is satisfied with the end of the show: “I just finished watching Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and I am fulfilled with that ending. They all got happiness and aren’t being chased around. A little disappointed the future time jump actually took place 3+ years ago but eh, that doesn’t affect the goodness.”

This fan, however, was determined that season 6 must take place. “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous NEEDS a season 6! Or a spin-off series! Something! It basically ended on a cliffhanger!

And finally, this fan even offered to help write a sixth season themselves: “If Netflix doesn’t give me a season 6 of Camp Cretaceous, I will sue. I’ll even help in the writing room if y’all need it.”

Season 5 of Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous can be streamed now Netflix After release on July 21, 2022.
