The misfortune isn’t limited to those involved in the 1978 film, but many of the stars’ spouses and partners have faced tragedy as well.

OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN

Playing Sandy Olsson opposite John Travolta’s Danny Zuko, Olivia Newton-John captured hearts during her performance.

However, heartbreak struck after her father’s death from cancer in 1992.

Newton-John was also diagnosed with breast cancer that weekend and required breast reconstruction, chemotherapy and a partial mastectomy.

After a 30-year battle, the four-time Grammy Award-winning singer passed away on Monday morning at her ranch in SouthernCalifornia, her husband John Easterling confirmed.

“DameOlivia Newton-John(73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends,”Easterling wrote about herFacebookpage.

“Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer.

“Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.

“In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund (ONJFoundationFund.org).”

Following the news of her passing, Travolta paid tribute to Newton-John on social media, sharing: “My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better.

“Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will be together again. Yours from the moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!”

EDDIE DEEZEN’S ARREST

Eddie Deezen, a notorious gullible nerd Eugene Felsnic was arrested in September last year in LaVale Maryland.

After Deezen caused an alleged scene at a venue, police were called.

He tried to hide behind an attractive woman in a booth.TMZreports.

Deezen was told several times by police to leave the restaurant but Deezen refused.

Deezen allegedly threw plates and bowls at cops, with one reportedly hitting a deputy.

Actor was charged with second-degree attack, disorderly conduct and trespassing

Deezen was also accused of harassing Kara Lashbaugh, a waitress at a restaurant, months before his arrest.

The actor reportedly complained about the waitress on Facebook as he allegedly commented on her fake eyelashes, and branded her an “attention wh***”, according toTMZ.

Hitting back, the waitress alleged: “Eddie Deezen is a f*** CREEP who comes into my work at least once a week, calls and asks other servers for my schedule, and if he comes in and I’m not wearing makeup HE LEAVES.

“And this grown a** old man has the b*** to post this on Facebook about me I’m losing my mind.”

His PR manager dropped Grease star after allegations were made.Fox Newsreported.

SUDDEN DEATHS

Edd Byrne was an announcer on radio who died in California at the age 87 in January 2020.

Logan, the actor’s 54-year-old news anchor son, announced the news. He called his father to inform him “my best friend”.

He took to Twitter to share his thoughts. Posted: “It is with profound sadness and grief that I share with you the passing of my father Edd Byrnes. He was an amazing man and one of my best friends.”

He said, “His story is that of an ambitious young man who drove from New York City to Hollywood with just a few hundred dollars and the dream of becoming a star in the entertainment industry.”

“He soon landed a starring role on the wildly popular TV series ’77 Sunset Strip’ as the cool-talking ‘Kookie.’ He went on to star in dozens of motion pictures and television series popular around the world, including playing the suave and debonaire Vince Fontaine in ‘Grease.'”

Although he claimed that the iconic Sunset Strip role made him typecast as a star, he did appear in a number of westerns in his last sixties before returning on TV.

Edd was even the host of the pilot for the hit game show Wheel Of Fortune. However, he missed the full-time gig.

He was married to Asa Maynor (TV star), and they had their son Logan for nine years, from 1962 to 1971.

On May 11, 2011, Jeff Conaway, who played Danny’s best friend Kenickie Murdoch, was found unconscious in what was originally believed to be an overdose on pain medication.

Later, however, it was revealed that the actor had pneumonia with sepsis. He was taken to the hospital and put into an induction coma.

His family took him off of life support May 26th and he died shortly thereafter at the age 60.

While Conaway’s drug use did not cause his pneumonia, his doctors said it drastically affected his ability to recognize how severely ill he was and he received treatment for pneumonia too late.

“What happens is, like with most opiate addicts, eventually they take a little too much … and they aspirate, so what’s in their mouth gets into their lungs … That’s what happened with Jeff,”Dr. Drew Pinsky.

TRAVOLTA TRAGEDIES

John Travolta has experienced many tragedies in his long career.

Known as one of Hollywood’s biggest heartthrobs, John has struggled with the loss of the three closest women in his life to breast cancer, his son’s sudden death and battling crippling confidence issues.

He was dating Diana Hyland (18 years his senior), an actress who had a child and was called the “The One” “complete package”The star.

John’s TV co-star Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs said: “She actually loved him and he worshipped her. He looked up to her.”

The young actor was “beyond excited”For his first movie, he had been training five months. Then in 1977, Diana’s breast cancer news shocked the world.

Diana had a mastectomy, but the cancer spread throughout her body. She died three months later.

Wensley Clarkson wrote a biography about John, explaining that John loved every minute with her, but had trouble controlling his emotions on the set.

Wensley stated: “She actually died in his arms and then he had to get back on that airplane, fly back to NY and go onto the set of Saturday Night Fever almost as if nothing had happened.”

John was “a very, very tender state”John Badham, his director, described him as “a zombie” “broken” between takes.

John was able to get his first Academy Award nominations and a Golden Globe nomination despite his struggles.

Travolta’s mother was also tragically diagnosed with breast cancer, but she chose not to tell him.

Wensley stated: “She knew what he’d been through with the death of Diana Hyland only 18 months earlier and she wanted to pretend, it was always her priority to protect him.”

John visited her after she disclosed her battle with health. “almost every day”And in tender moments “keep her spirits up”Would perform for her musical numbers.

Eight months later Helen died, leaving “a huge void” in John’s life and at the same time, his career was under threat too.

John enjoyed a happy, fulfilled life off-camera with Kelly Preston, his wife and their three children.

John’s son Jett, 16 years old, died in 2009 after suffering a seizure. He had hit his head on the bathtub.

John admitted that it was “the worst thing that’s ever happened to me bar none”He struggled each day to fight off depression.

Wensley said “There was a feeling in Hollywood and elsewhere of great sympathy for him, he has been through a lot.

“It’s almost as if every important stage of John Travolta’s life has been accompanied by the death of someone close to him.”

John’s beloved wife Kelly would succumb to breast cancer in 2020, following her diagnosis in 2018.

John took to Instagram to announce his wife’s death and described that she “fought a courageous fight with the love and support from so many”.

Four major deaths, including three from breast cancer, career highs and lows led many to conclude that John’s life was a “rollercoaster ride”.

Journalist Kathryn Kinley said: “Sometimes he hasn’t wanted to take the ride, I don’t blame him but only the strongest survive.”

John’s former vocal coach, David Grant gave testament to the star’s comebacks across the decades and branded him “a Hollywood icon”.
