Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, Indian filmmakers, have formed a multiyear creative partnership with Netflix. DK and Nidimoru, who are part of D2R Films, will develop and produce the upcoming Netflix projects.

The pair has created genre mashups in a unique style that has won them both commercial and critical praise. Their previous film for Netflix was the 2021 Telugu language film “Cinema Bandi,”This film was directed by Preveen Khandregula. The pair’s production company D2R Films is focused on creating original, compelling stories across film or series that are “out-of-the box yet have mainstream appeal.”They are able to produce and direct projects, and they also aim to work with other filmmakers.
They will be the show-runners and directors of Netflix’s upcoming comedy crime thriller series “Guns & Gulaabs,”A story about love and innocence in a world full of crime. It is described as “a nostalgic tale of all kinds of firsts, from first love to first kill.”

Access to local content is a key component of the Indian streaming market. Netflix is among five leading platforms – YouTube, Meta, Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video – which dominate the streaming market in revenue terms, with a combined 82% share in 2022, according to research firm Media Partners Asia. Netflix cut its subscription prices in India last year to attract more subscribers.
