Appearing in TLC show I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant, she shares her incredible story after miraculously givinh birth to twins while in a medical coma.

In a clip shared to YouTube, Cassie reveals she was diagnosed with leukaemia at 13 years old and spent two-and-a-half years having an aggressive form of chemo – which treats cancer cells but kills off egg cells.

Cassie, who hails from the US, was able to receive the treatment and was assured she was free of cancer. She was also told she wouldn’t be able for children in the near future.

Cassie was then given steroids following her chemo. She gained a lot of weight over the years.

Cassie was studying forensic science when she graduated college. She weighed 300lbs, just over 21 stone. At 22 years old her weight had risen significantly to over 400lbs (28.5stone).

As well as weight gain, Cassie developed worrying new symptoms that left her feeling “out of breath very quickly” and “like someone was choking me”.

Cassie’s mum thought she might have a heart condition and took her to the hospital. Cassie was so weak that she couldn’t even get out of the car to the emergency room.

Her blood pressure was high and doctors diagnosed her with congestive heart disease. This is a chronic progressive condition in which fluid builds up and slows down the heart’s pumping.

The doctor informed her that she had also suffered from kidney disease and had contracted pneumonia in her right lungs.

“I’m just feeling like life doesn’t like me. I just feel like god’s decided I’m the only person he wants to push and push and push until he can’t push no more,” In the clip, she shares her feelings.

Her heart problems were confirmed by doctors, but they still needed to understand why she was experiencing sudden heart failure.

I was laying on the table and I heard a heartbeat and I started crying

Cassie was sent for blood tests, X-rays and even a pregnancy test in order to test absolutely everything, but was left shocked to hear that the pregnancy test had come back positive.

After being told she couldn’t have kids, Cassie was stunned. Cassie stated that there was only one plausible explanation she could have been pregnant. It could have been the condom she had broken after she had sex.

Cassie was sent for an ultrasound in order to confirm that she was pregnant. Her baby’s heartbeat confirmed her suspicions.

“I was laying on the table and I heard a heartbeat and I started crying. I’m like, ‘I can hear a heartbeat and it’s not my heart,'” She recalls.

“And they were like, ‘Wait a second…” There were two.

There were two.

“I really did think that this was going to be it,” an emotional Cassie says.

Two boys were born safe and sound. One weighed 2lbs 12oz, the other 4lbs 5oz.

They were tiny when I saw them a week later. They were so precious

They were rushed to neonatal ICU where they were monitored, while Cassie was forced to stay in a medical coma for three days until her heart had time to recover.

Cassie was finally able to meet her twins after she woke up. It took her a week before she could see them for the first time.

“I got to see them a week later, they were so tiny. They were so precious,” She shares.

They were born at 34 weeks. The twins had to be admitted to hospital until they reached 5 lbs.

“When Cassie came out of the coma all she wanted to see was the boys,” Her mum recalls.

Reflecting on the emotional whirlwind, her sister says: “We needed something happy and [the twins] were it.”
