Husband of Missing Wife Ciera Berland Accused in Unrelated Case

Authorities have announced that the husband and ex-wife of an Indiana woman, who had been missing since February, was found innocent in an unrelated aggravated surveillance case.

Xavier Breland was found not guilty on Thursday of charges alleging he placed a GPS device inside a stuffed animal to track his ex-wife’s movements. The custody dispute that he and the Georgia woman had over their children involved them in, police stated.

Breland was taken into custody in March as part of an investigation into Ciera Breland’s disappearance. In that case, her husband was named as the only person of interest. She has never been charged with anyone, and her husband has denied any involvement in the disappearance.

On Thursday, after deliberating for minutes, Xavier Breland was found not guilty of aggravated stalking, according to his attorney, Bryan Howard.

“We knew he wasn’t guilty and the jury deliberated 14 minutes before agreeing with us,”Howard spoke to Inside Edition Digital via email Monday.

“It was a case that never should have gone to trial. He had nothing to do with the disappearance of Cierra Breland. He is tired of being Villainized in the media and just wants to be a good father to his children,”Howard stated.

For information that leads to Ciera’s location, the FBI is offering a $10,000 reward. Police in Carmel, Indiana, where the couple lived, are working with police in Johns Creek, Georgia, where the couple had visited their families before Ciera disappeared.

“Breland’s husband reported her missing on February 26th to the Carmel Police Department in Indiana. However, there is no evidence that Breland ever returned home after the family’s trip to Georgia,”In its reward announcement, the FBI stated that.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will also be involved in this investigation.

Her family stated that Ciera Breland, then five months old, was a loving mother to her baby.

Authorities said that they have not found any trace of Ciera Breland since she was captured on security video at her mother-inlaw’s house.

Her search continues.
