Hunt for ‘kidnapped’ girl,13, seen ‘screaming for help and trying to escape from speeding black car’ in North London

POLICE have launched a manhunt after terrified witnesses saw a teenage girl “screaming” and trying to escape from the back of a car.

Officers believe the girl, who is believed to be between 13 and 15, was abducted after screaming for help around 6.40pm yesterday.

Eyewitnesses reported to cops that they had seen a young girl in a black Mercedes on Plevna Crescent, Haringey, North London.

The girl then tried to escape the car through the open rear window and sat in front of the car’s driver seat.

The girl was then pulled back into the vehicle, which turned around and sped off in the direction of St Ann’s Road before turning right into Frinton Road.

The teen was described by officers as a young black girl with long hair. He was also wearing a red tracksuit bottoms, a red hoodie and braided locks.

Officers described a male driver behind the wheel of the car to be a black man with long hair.

They now need witnesses to help them track down the teenager.

Detective Inspector Lyndsey Billaney said: “We are taking this report very, very seriously and are pursuing a number of urgent lines of enquiry to try to identify the girl and establish her welfare.

“Anyone who has information that could help us, or who thinks they know the girl described and has information as to her whereabouts, is urged to call 101 ref CAD 6314/18 Sept immediately.

“I also urge residents to check dash cam and doorbell footage for any possible sightings of a black Mercedes in the area.”
