Hulu ordered 10 episodes Interior ChinatownA new series starting at 20ThCharles Yu, TV and Creator/Exec producer, wrote the 2020 bestseller with the same name. Jimmy O. Yang (Crazy Rich Asians) will star and Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit() will be the pilot and executive producer.
Yang will play Willis Wu as a background actor in the procedural cop show “Procedural Cop Show”. Black & White. Relegated to the background Willis goes through the motions of his on-screen job, waiting tables and dreaming about a whole world beyond Chinatown. Willis is accidentally made a witness in a crime. He discovers what it’s like to be in the spotlight and begins to unravel the criminal web in Chinatown.
Dive, Participant, and Rideback are all exec producing. Dan Lin, Lindsey Liberatore, and Elsie Choi are the EP producers for Ridgeback. Jeff Skill and Miura kite will EPs for Participant. Garrett Basch is the EP producer for Dive. Waititi can also be an EP.
